In late 1998, I was looking in the Want Ads for a bar for sale. I ran across an ad for a bar in La Mesa. I remembered seeing the place while doing business at Drew Ford, also located in La Mesa. The name of it was Scotty’s Pub. It was located off the beaten path on 4th Street.
I made an appointment with the seller to look at it. Man, it was pretty run down and old. No matter, I loved the location in the village. The potential for expansion was great, and the village itself was very intriguing. I fell in love with the possibilities! I looked at it the first day and bought it the next. We opened New Year’s Day 1999, and I will tell you that the people of La Mesa and the city of La Mesa have been great to me ever since!
As they say, the rest is history
